in Family Therapy

September 2000 to May 2001

A unique opportunity to interact with three AAMFT Approved Supervisors in a small group setting.


An Opportunity to Explore and Learn
  • New developments in relational therapy from a postmodern viewpoint.
  • Professional identity and vocational transitions: How values and passions can shape one’s career.
  • Perspectives on family therapy from three different supervisors.
  • Strategies for rejuvenation and burnout prevention.
  • Receiving supervision on case material & professional concerns from your practice setting.
  • Sharing knowledge and ideas in a small group.
  • Investigating topics of interest to the group. (See "Areas of Exploration".)

Format: Combines group supervision & training. At least half of each meeting will be dedicated to supervision (i.e. case review and practical application determined by the practice settings of the participants). The remaining time will explore professional development issues and offer presentations by supervisors.

Time: From 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

(The last day will be extended for wrap up.)

Structure: All three faculty participate in the first meeting and in the last day wrap up. In between are three blocks of three consecutive meetings. Each block is led by one of the faculty.

Size: Group size is limited to six.

Participants: Masters level graduates who seek post-graduate training in family therapy from a post-modern perspective and/or need supervision by AAMFT Approved Supervisors for state credentialing or AAMFT membership.

Location: Well & Beyond is conveniently located in southwestern New Hampshire in the center of Peterborough.

Tuition: $ 800 includes all training hours.



Areas of Exploration:

  • The work of the heart and mind: therapy and spirituality
  • Challenges to collaborative practice (mandated clients, domestic violence, abuse and neglect)
  • Therapy in context: cultural diversity and social justice
  • Medical family therapy and collaborative health care
  • Reflecting team approaches to therapy and consultation
  • Conceptual foundations of strength focused /solution oriented therapy in the home
  • Applying systemic concepts to other practice areas (Employee Assistance Programs, Wellness, Family Business Consultation)

About the Supervisors: Faculty will be Roger Hatt; Heribert Tryba & Paki Wieland. All three are Approved Supervisors and Clinical Members of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
