What is the Employee
Assistance Program (EAP)?
Well & Beyond’s Employee
Assistance Program provides employees and their families with
confidential, effective short-term counseling services for work or
life problems that may interfere with personal well-being and/or job
performance. An EAP professional can offer assistance, help you
determine a course of action, or identify other sources of help.
Who is eligible for EAP Services?
When an employer has arranged for an EAP with Well & Beyond, EAP
services are available for:
- Employees:
Any employee may call for a free consultation
- Family Members:
Family members’ eligibility depends on the employer’s contract
with Well & Beyond. In most cases, the EAP services are
available to family members. You can inquire with your Human
Resource office or contact us to find out whether or not your
employer has included family members in the EAP benefit. Everyone
who lives in an employee's household is considered a family member.
What services are offered?
Employees are eligible to meet with an
EAP professional for a few visits per year. The exact number of
available visits depends on your employer’s contract with Well &
Beyond.
EAP consultations focus on crisis
response, assessment, and short-term intervention. If further assistance
is needed, your counselor will determine with you what services would be
helpful and will facilitate a referral to the best available resource in
the community.
Is there a cost for services?
No. Your employer has contracted with
Well & Beyond to provide this program as a free employee benefit. If
the Employee Assistance Program refers you for additional services, you
will be responsible for any costs associated with those services.
What are some examples of concerns
which people bring to the EAP?
Employees and eligible family members
may seek a consultation for any personal or work related issue.
Sometimes an unexpected event at home or work disrupts their daily
routine. Often an employee or family member contacts the EAP over
concerns with marriage, relationship, family, drugs or alcohol, health,
financial or legal difficulties, emotional stress, conflicts with a
co-worker or other work problems.
In some situations a supervisor may
require an employee to seek assistance from the EAP if that person’s
job performance is affected by a personal problem.
What information is
shared with my employer?
The identity of employees who access
the Employee Assistance Program is confidential, as is any information
you discuss with an EAP counselor. Some statistical information is
provided to your employer, such as the number of people who contact the
EAP.
In the event of a mandatory
supervisory referral related to a job performance difficulty, your
supervisor will be told whether or not you kept your appointment. No
other information will be given without your written consent.
How do I set up an appointment?
Call Well & Beyond at
603-924-6681, give us the name of your employer and request an "EAP
appointment".
Your initial phone call will take only
a few minutes. We will briefly ask you about the general nature of your
concern, which allows us to match you with an EAP counselor that is most
suited for your particular situation. Please let us know if you prefer a
male or female EAP professional.
You can expect to meet with your EAP
counselor within a few days after your initial phone call. If you have
an urgent concern, we will meet with you as soon as possible, sometimes
even at the same day, if necessary.
I am not sure if
the EAP can help in my situation. How can I obtain more information?
Please call 603-924-6681 to talk with
an EAP counselor. We would be happy to discuss your situation or answer
your questions about the Employee Assistance Program. Your call is
confidential.
If you do not want to meet with an EAP
counselor in person, you can also have one or more extended telephone
consultations to further talk about your concerns on the telephone.
Who are the EAP
counselors?
Well & Beyond’s Employee
Assistance Program is staffed by a small number of caring and
experienced male and female professionals. We welcome your call and
encourage you to take advantage of the help we can offer.
